New Year's Resolutions

Today is the second day of the new year, so I'm going to write about the same thing everyone else writes about at this time of year; namely, New Year's resolutions.  So here are mine:

1. Become proficient in Xamarin, so I can write Windows Phone, Android, and iOS apps, all in one code base. At about $1,000 for the Xamarin tools to do all that, it isn't cheap, but should be worth the investment.

2. Get some kind of Microsoft certification.  I've been doing development in the Microsoft environment for 25 years; it's about time I got some kind of official recognition that I know what I'm doing. (Some may disagree, but only Microsoft's opinion counts.)

3. Finish the remodeling projects I started in the kitchen, family room, and first floor bathroom of my house.

4. Start a new remodeling project in the master bathroom of my house.

5. Exercise more and eat better.  Yeah, everyone says that.  I intend to do more aerobic and strength training, trim about 15 pounds off my weight, and distribute what's left in a more pleasing fashion.  I worry about SHTF and TEOTWAWKI scenarios, and I don't want to be too weak or out of shape to take care of my family.  I really hate the thought of going to a gym, though, because I just don't like being around other people that much.  I think walking in decent weather and using resistance bands are a good start, as well as one of those gadgets that let you pedal while you're sitting on your butt blogging or watching The Big Bang Theory.  I ordered one of those fitness tracker bands, but I don't know how well it's going to work with the bicycle thingie.  Maybe I'll strap it to my combat boot.

A note about the best lawyer in Lee's Summit.  The opinions expressed in this blog are mine and mine alone and do not reflect the opinion of anyone at The Law Offices of Dennis Bonner & Associates.
